Where these notebooks come from, and how to read their results.

10.2.1. Sources

The notebooks are adapted from Quantum Machine Learning, the University of Toronto course on edX by Peter Wittek, Arthur Pesah, Patrick Huembeli and contributors, whose lecture notebooks are on GitHub. Peter Wittek introduced me to the field; the About page says more about him. The course’s text and figures are licensed under CC BY 4.0 and its code under the MIT License. Its figures are reproduced here unchanged; the text and code are adapted, with my own notes added.

10.2.2. Running the notebooks

Each notebook is shown with the results stored when it was last run, not re-run when the site is built. Several use Qiskit interfaces that later Qiskit releases removed, such as execute, BasicAer and Qiskit Aqua, and a few call D-Wave’s Ocean tools. To run one yourself, use the launch button at the top of its page, and expect to update those calls for a current Qiskit.
